Discover the Arctic Bowl: Fairbanks, Alaska's Premier Bowling Alley

If you're looking for a fun outing in Fairbanks, Alaska, look no further than the Arctic Bowl. This bowling alley has long been a staple of the local community, offering a nostalgic atmosphere combined with a range of offerings that cater to both adults and children alike.

Family-Friendly Fun

The Arctic Bowl is renowned for being a great place for families, making it particularly suitable for kids' birthday parties. With ample space for children to run around and enjoy, it creates lasting memories for families and friends. However, it's essential to note that the bowling lanes do not have bumpers, which may pose a challenge for younger bowlers who are still developing their skills.

Accessibility Features

One of the standout aspects of Arctic Bowl is its commitment to accessibility. It features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a day at the lanes. This attention to accessibility makes it an inviting venue for all community members.

At Arctic Bowl, the experience goes beyond just bowling. The establishment offers various food options, from Tyson chicken tenders to burgers, alongside a selection of beverages, including beer. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual game or planning a celebration, the availability of quality food enhances the experience. However, some patrons have noted that the food prices are on the higher side, so be prepared to spend a bit for your snacks.

A Nostalgic Atmosphere

Stepping into Arctic Bowl is akin to taking a trip down memory lane. While many reviewers have mentioned the dated decor and leaky ceilings, this rustic charm adds to the vintage feel of the bowling alley. Some guests appreciate the throwback ambiance, as it reminds them of their youth spent bowling with friends and family. Yet, there is also a call for updates to improve the overall experience, especially given the building's age.

Mixed Reviews on the Experience

While Arctic Bowl is adored by many, it's not without its criticisms. Several visitors pointed out instances of poor customer service and maintenance issues, like machines getting jammed and slow food service. Despite these shortcomings, many patrons express their joy about the overall experience, emphasizing the fun atmosphere and affordability of bowling.

Its ability to host leagues, friendly competitions, and family gatherings makes it more than just a bowling alley; it's a community hub where people come together to create lasting memories. I visited the bowling alley for the first time last night, and I must say I was quite disappointed. The chicken was way too salty for my liking, and the seating area next to the lanes was incredibly cramped. It was definitely not designed for a family outing as we found ourselves squeezing past each other all evening due to the lack of space. Additionally, there was no surround sound for the music, so if you're on the last lane, good luck hearing anything properly. To make matters worse, there was no air conditioning, so we had to rely on fans to cool down. Most of the bowling balls didn't even have their sizes marked, which made it quite challenging to find the right fit. On a positive note, they do offer a military discount. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place for a fun night out.
Jerry Ramirez (6/26/25, 11:24 AM):
I concur with the rest, the establishment was rather dilapidated. There wasn't much diversity in the selection of balls. The lanes were quite worn out. It was rather pricey as well. They don't offer lane rentals by the hour. The sole reason for a three-star rating was the amiable staff.
Danielle King (6/25/25, 3:40 PM):
I say, it would have been a smashing five-star affair.. My time at the bowling alley was jolly good, until some ladies at the far end of the alley began grumbling about the little ones, who were as merry as could be.. 🙄 It's a shame some folks can't appreciate that children will be children ..
Cynthia Williams (6/21/25, 8:50 AM):
The lanes are top-notch, well-maintained, and provide a great bowling experience. However, the building itself leaves much to be desired. Despite this, it's possible to overlook these flaws. The biggest drawbacks were the limited selection of house balls and the inconvenience of needing a key to access the bathroom. It seems odd that the key is left out on the counter for anyone to take at any time, making its purpose somewhat questionable.
Johnny Phillips (6/19/25, 5:42 PM):
Only 'alf the lanes be closed and none of the staff be wearin' a mask. I ain't fussed about the mask meself, but if yer not gonna wear one, then at least open up all the lanes, mate.
Terry Ward (6/18/25, 12:12 AM):
Great fun for the whole family, and there's an awesome little cafe on site too!
Deborah Lewis (6/16/25, 8:31 PM):
No smoking, which was quite pleasant. We were able to get a lane quickly, although the atmosphere inside felt a bit dingy and dim, but I suppose that's just the typical vibe of a bowling alley.
Riley Howard (6/16/25, 3:44 PM):
Bloody 'ell, Lane 15 is a right pain in the backside, innit? The scores are all wonky as well. Proper dodgy, that is.
Juan Diaz (6/15/25, 12:35 AM):
The grub was top-notch, and the vibes were spot on. We threw a bash for a birthday shindig, and all had a blast!
Elizabeth Sanchez (6/13/25, 4:16 AM):
What a fantastic spot in Fairbanks! If you've got an hour to spare, why not give bowling a go? They've got shoes available for rent and a variety of bowling balls to choose from. And don't forget to check out their snack bar - their nachos are absolutely amazing!
Rachel Thompson (6/12/25, 2:55 AM):
What a remarkable place! Arctic Bowl has been a cherished part of the Jorges family for more than three decades, embracing parents nurturing sportsmanship and focus in their children, as well as extending a warm welcome to individuals of all abilities. Thank you, Arctic Bowl, for your ongoing support and inclusivity.
Nathan Reyes (6/11/25, 5:38 PM):
The staff at this place is truly top-notch, providing excellent service and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness. The whole experience was an absolute blast!
Sharon Baker (6/11/25, 12:32 PM):
Fabulous spot, top-notch grub, fantastic arcade games, and absolutely smashing bowling experience!
Ethan Myers (6/11/25, 12:11 AM):
I must say, the food and drinks here are quite pricey. I was rather disappointed to discover that their chicken strips are actually of the Tyson brand. Upon attempting to order a Philly Cheese Steak, I was informed that it was essentially just ground-up hamburger meat.

Update:
While the costs remain as steep as ever, they have now included moldy ceilings as part of the experience. It begs the question, how are they still operating in this manner? Furthermore, who in their right mind leaves Christmas decorations up until March? The level of laziness among the staff is truly baffling.
Raymond Nelson (6/8/25, 12:36 PM):
This establishment is a classic bowling alley. It features a section for food and alcohol. However, the equipment may require some maintenance, and the venue could benefit from upgrades.

Given Fairbanks's status as a small college and military town, it would be wise to consider modernizing and investing in new shoes.

By doing so, this bowling alley has the potential to enhance the nightlife scene in the community.
Andrew Wright (6/2/25, 12:05 AM):
I absolutely love bowling, but I just can't bear how everything seems so outdated in the alley. From the lanes to the ceiling always dripping with mold, and seeing buckets on many of the tables, it really puts a damper on the whole experience. The uninviting atmosphere makes me less inclined to visit. It's frustrating to pay for a lane only to have my ball get stuck constantly or find the lanes are uneven. With the community investing money into this establishment, it's disheartening to see no improvements each time we visit. If the place were renovated, I believe I would frequent it more often, and it would create a more inviting environment for families.
