This here church was established back in 1893, with funds coming all the way from Russia. It ain't too far from the ol' dock, making it a right interesting spot to visit while you're exploring the other attractions in Juneau.

I thoroughly enjoyed the vesper service at the Russian Orthodox church. The harmonious chants and the incense wafting through the air created a truly captivating atmosphere. It was a deeply spiritual experience that left me feeling uplifted and connected to something greater. I look forward to attending more services in the future.

My husband and I have visited Juneau multiple times, and let me tell you - the church is absolutely stunning inside and out, mate. It's a bit of a trek up the hill, but well worth it once you see the beauty of it all. Tucked away in a cozy neighborhood, far from the hustle and bustle of the shops. Father Maximus, the priest, was a true gem - so kind and welcoming to us. We even had the chance to attend services and let me tell you, the atmosphere was just so peaceful and full of reverence. The choir, led by Matushka Michelle, Father's wife, sang like angels. We heard a mix of languages during the service, with bits of Russian, English, and more - quite fascinating, really. The congregation is a diverse mix of Native Alaskans, Ukrainians, Greeks, and more. Don't forget to swing by the gift shop to support the church with your purchases or donations. Hopefully, with some renovations, this church will continue to flourish for years to come. Cheers!

I was absolutely overwhelmed by the touching tribute to the Native American people who were laid to rest there. I believe the memorial was put up in 2016, and I'm eager to learn more about the story behind its dedication.

Oh, what a charming little church, isn't it? It's been standing for over a century now. I was quite taken by the sweet memorial they have for the Alaskan citizens who were interned during the Second World War. Quite touching, I must say.

Ah, now this here church, she's a real gem. Tucked away in a peaceful corner, she is. The Russian Orthodox church, with her ancient walls and hushed atmosphere, beckons you to step inside and feel the weight of history upon your shoulders. A truly serene experience, like stepping back in time.
Anthony Gomez (8/19/25, 7:50 AM):
I had the pleasure of visiting a quaint and welcoming Russian Orthodox church. As my companions and I approached the church, a kind gentleman invited us inside for a visit. Graciously accepting his offer, we were greeted with a warm cup of tea, a true display of Russian hospitality.

During our tour of the church, we were immersed in its rich history and traditions. However, it was evident that the church was in need of restoration. Touched by the experience, I decided to make a donation to support their cause. In gratitude, I was presented with a lovely church mug as a token of appreciation.

With only a small community of about a dozen regular attendees, this church relies on the generosity of visitors to maintain its sacred space. If you find yourself moved by their hospitality and charm, I encourage you to consider making a contribution to help preserve this hidden gem.
