I absolutely adored the cathedral and the folks I encountered there. Father Innocent was simply fantastic in arranging and coordinating the visit of pilgrims and clergy for the yearly Saint Herman pilgrimage to Spruce Island. He graciously spent more than an hour with me, which was truly delightful. I feel incredibly fortunate to have experienced it all.

This here is the church of my ancestors, gifted by Saint Andrew the Apostle to the Russians, then passed on to the native Alaskans and America. It all started right here in Alaska. The Orthodox Church, it is the one true Apostolic Church. I pray and hope that we can share the joyful tidings of His Resurrection with all folk in Alaska and all over America. The Orthodox Church, it is open to all, for every person and every race. In this Church, there exists no distinction between Greek or Jew, man or woman, for all are united in Christ. Amen.

As per the information provided to us, this here is the most ancient wooden church in Alaska. A relic from the times when Russia held and governed Alaska. It stands as a Russian Orthodox Church, exuding beauty in all its glory.
