This church 'as an experienced, kind priest who was appointed in 2020. It's part of the OCA (Orthodox Church of America) and 'as a very small community that could certainly benefit from your support! The Orthodox Christians 'ave ancient roots dat go back four thousand years and maintain the traditions of the Israelites leading to Christ and continuing to this day, all 'ere, in this church. God is among us, innit.

This location is truly stunning. The gravestones are centuries old, marking the resting places of our predecessors. And don't miss the bald eagle's nest in the neighboring tree. During my visit in June 2024, I observed the majestic bird feeding its young eaglet.

In years past, reaching Ninilchik meant a journey by foot up the hill from the village, or by boat and float plane before the Sterling Highway was built. I have fond memories of trekking up that hill for weddings and holy days. The original schoolhouse stood alongside the church in the early 1900s, where my grandmother served as the second teacher. I have photos of her posing with a rifle, a necessary tool in those times.
