This parish is truly something special with some of the most vibrant families I've encountered in my decades of practicing Catholicism. From the moment my wife stepped through the doors, the women embraced her, assisted with our children, and welcomed her into the community. Upon my return, I connected with these families and have established some of the most dynamic friendships of our lives. The pastor is a genuinely kind and selfless individual with a heart dedicated to service. Despite the distance, several families from Anchorage make the journey to Palmer to be part of Saint Michael's, and it's easy to understand why. This parish has truly become our spiritual family and home.

The people at the congregation were friendly, however, I was disappointed by the pastor's sermon which did not inspire me as much as I had hoped. His interpretation of Christian beliefs left me feeling unsettled. I was particularly taken aback when he suggested that mentioning God in the Treaty of Versailles could have prevented World War 2. The service also took a political turn that made me uncomfortable. Additionally, his inappropriate sexist joke at the end of the service fell flat for me. It was the kind of humor that I find outdated and unnecessary. As a Catholic, I had chosen this church specifically, but after this experience, I would rather attend a Protestant service than return here.

The parishioners are so lovely and welcoming. It's a tight-knit community filled with faith, and I just adore seeing the young families. The visiting priest delivered a truly inspiring homily.

This blog about the Catholic church is a bit dull, isn't it?

Outstanding pastor, such lovely folks, and a fabulous choir. We are truly thankful. A fantastic spot to commune with God! Totally worth the journey from Chugiak.

The clergyman displayed a lack of empathy and was discourteous.

The priest, or pastor, bestowed his blessing upon me. I am grateful to that lovely priest with whom I had a pleasant encounter on a recent Sunday. Thank you for bringing peace into my life. May God bless your heart, and may peace be with you as well. Let us pray for all who come and go, that they may also be blessed.

Daily masses are a wonderful opportunity for Catholic faithful to come together and partake in the celebration of the Eucharist. It is a time of spiritual nourishment and reflection, where we can deepen our connection with God through prayer and worship. Attending daily masses allows us to stay connected to our faith and receive the graces that come from participating in the sacred liturgy. Let us embrace this special time to grow closer to the Lord and strengthen our relationship with Him.
Ruth Bennett (5/30/25, 4:15 AM):

Alice Watson (5/26/25, 11:50 PM):
Just arrived from out of town; requested a private room and wifi to secure a job. Ms. Kathy informed me that the church could not provide assistance, but suggested I visit a community resource center. However, when attending the 9 am mass, it was clear that we are meant to support each other in times of need. It seems that Ms. Kathy missed this message. This is not the response I would have received at my previous parish! They would have reached out to other churches if they could not accommodate. Catholics are supposed to care for one another, but it appears that this is not the case at Saint Michael's. It is truly disappointing to receive such a cold response from the church.
Ruth Ford (5/26/25, 9:35 AM):
A lovely and inviting church, indeed. 🙏🙏🙏✝️ ...
