I ain't that much into religion, more of a spiritual type, but gotta say, this church was quite impressive. The tapestries were top-notch, the relics were fascinating, and that never-ending cup tapestry really caught my eye.

Back in the day, this place was just a humble chapel put up by one of Alexander Baranov's crew when the first Europeans settled in Alaska. The folks at the Temperance Society & Brotherhood took care of it during tough times after Alaska was bought. When the Russians were in charge, fancy Russian nobles donated some beautiful art pieces, many of which were saved from a fire in '66 and can now be seen in the newly spruced-up cathedral.

I visited the Russian Orthodox church in June and I must say, it was well worth the $5 entrance fee as it goes towards the upkeep of the church. I had no qualms about paying that amount. The moment I stepped inside, I was immediately struck by the incredible energy I felt. As I was preparing to leave, I mentioned this to the Patriarch, who was not only very knowledgeable but also a kind and friendly man. He explained to me that the energy I was experiencing was the blessings of the saints that surrounded me as I walked in. I highly recommend to anyone planning to visit to take a moment to reflect on the feeling when entering the church. The treasures and history within were truly remarkable.
