While I was enjoying the icy wonders of Alaska, it seems like the folks in the northeast were sweating up a storm! My time in Sitka was truly wonderful, but I must say that Norwegian Cruise Line can be quite the drain on the ol' wallet. If you're considering a cruise, it might be worth exploring other options besides Norwegian. Cruising can already be a pricey endeavor, and Norwegian seems to have me feeling a bit financially trapped at the moment.

Sitka and the surrounding area truly stole the show during our Norwegian Bliss cruise. We had a jolly good time exploring Sitka, and I simply must recommend visiting the Fortress of Bears and the Orthodox Church. We were left yearning for more time in this enchanting place. Across our delightful 7-day cruise, Sitka and Juneau emerged as our top picks, boasting unparalleled beauty and charm.
Linda Young (8/7/25, 6:30 AM):
Lovely spot.. just a couple of vendors offering reasonable prices. Quite similar to the downtown area in Sitka.
Angela Young (8/7/25, 5:48 AM):

What a fabulous pier and terminal area! The new structures offer a delightful array of shopping choices. Impeccably clean and incredibly efficient. The swift transportation by bus to the city center is an added bonus.

The folks around these parts of Alaska are just so warm and friendly. Everything was so well-coordinated. The grub at the restaurant on the premises was absolutely top-notch. I must say, I wasn't quite sure what to anticipate here, but I'm genuinely thrilled we stopped by and can't wait for another visit down the line.
Isabella Gray (7/29/25, 8:17 PM):
This terminal is a quaint spot, with space for about two ships to dock directly. The building is quite spacious and even features a few charming coffee shops. While the dining options may be limited, they do offer a pleasant selection.

The organization for excursions is top-notch, with approximately 10 clearly numbered lines to keep things running smoothly. Although the terminal is located a few miles from the bustling downtown area, shuttle services are frequent and run regularly, ensuring convenient transportation for all passengers. Cheers!

Sitka is a marvelous place, there's so much to behold in this quaint town.

Fascinating tidbits about Sitka...

Sitka, Alaska, is a charming city nestled on Baranof Island in the southeastern reaches of the state. Renowned for its breathtaking natural landscapes encompassing rainforests, mountains, and coastal vistas. Sitka boasts a diverse cultural tapestry, weaving together Tlingit Native American roots with Russian influences, owing to its historical role as the erstwhile capital of Russian America before its handover to the United States in 1867.

A few key attractions in Sitka include:

- Sitka National Historical Park: The oldest national park in Alaska, celebrated for its totem poles and historical significance, particularly relating to Tlingit and Russian conflicts.

- St. Michael's Cathedral: A striking Russian Orthodox church that serves as a poignant reminder of the city's Russian heritage.

- Wildlife: Sitka offers abundant opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts, with sightings of bald eagles, sea otters, and humpback whales being common.

- Outdoor pursuits: Popular activities in Sitka include hiking, kayaking, fishing, and venturing into the Tongass National Forest.

The city's secluded locale imparts a serene, unhurried ambiance, making it an idyllic haven for travelers seeking solace amidst nature.
Nicholas James (7/24/25, 7:22 AM):
Lovely spot. Smooth sailing in and out with handy amenities at hand. Can't comment on the bus setup as we rented a Turo, but it appeared that considerable effort went into maintaining its efficiency.
Evelyn Butler (7/23/25, 9:47 PM):
Spotless, impeccably arranged, with delightful shops to peruse. They even boast a convenient store for essentials. Complimentary shuttle service available for an excursion into the city center.
Layla Ford (7/21/25, 11:55 PM):
It's highly recommended to make a reservation for your cruise terminal as soon as possible. The queues for unreserved rides can stretch up to 45 minutes or even more. Considering the waiting time and the travel duration, you could end up losing nearly 2 valuable hours of your visit.
Rose Wilson (7/21/25, 7:12 PM):
Charming cruise terminal, darling! Complete with quaint shops for purchasing souvenirs and a shuttle service to downtown Sitka.
Ashley Green (7/18/25, 4:33 AM):
Located approximately 4 miles outside of the charming town of Sitka, this well-designed cruise terminal offers a warm welcome to visitors. A complimentary shuttle service is available to transport guests to the city center. It is advisable to refrain from making purchases at the terminal and instead explore the authentic offerings from local vendors in town. Keep an eye on the schedule of other cruise ships in port; if there are more than 3 ships, consider heading into town early to bypass the crowds.
Amelia Butler (7/17/25, 7:19 PM):
The bloke renting out them ebikes was proper helpful and knew his stuff. His bikes were top-notch, I saw all the sights he marked on the map he gave me, covering a whopping 40km.
Gregory Martin (7/11/25, 4:34 PM):
This cruise terminal seems to be flouting ADA regulations. When we asked for a wheelchair-accessible shuttle, a service that is mandatory for public transportation facilities, the staff deceived us by claiming that the lift on the ADA shuttle was out of order. They rushed us onto a regular charter bus, where we had to manually lift our wheelchair user with the help of four adults. Later, we discovered from the bus driver and downtown staff that the ADA shuttle's lift was actually operational, and we were denied services solely to expedite the boarding process. This conduct violates ADA guidelines, and this port should face penalties for failing to comply.
Andrea Walker (7/9/25, 3:49 AM):
Ahoy there, mateys! The Alaska port be a fine spot indeed for them cruise adventures. They offer a splendid free bus service to downtown, although ye may find yerself waitin' in a mighty long line at times. All in all, 'tis a grand experience! ⚓️🌊🚢
Nicole Kim (7/7/25, 5:36 AM):
It's a bit tricky to rate Sitka accurately as my visit was limited to the downtown area and a lot of the businesses were closed.
