We had a rather disappointing encounter at this church. It was quite crowded, but I managed to find a pew with enough room for two more people. The ladies in the pew scooted over to make space for me, and I informed them that my husband would be joining us shortly after parking the car. Shortly thereafter, he entered and, when I turned to the woman beside me, she looked at me and flatly refused to budge. There was a significant amount of space between her and the next lady, as well as additional space beyond that. My husband stood in the aisle for a couple of awkward moments while the women beside me remained unyielding, eventually deciding to return to the car as he couldn't stand at the back. Sadly, I followed suit, tears in my eyes at this point. I mentioned the situation to the priest, who was preparing to walk down the aisle, and he kindly urged me to return inside, assuring me that his congregation doesn't usually behave in such a manner. I will take his word for it. However, no visitor should be treated in this way. It's not in line with the messages conveyed in the Gospels. We won't be returning to that church. Instead, we visited Rehoboth Beach and were warmly welcomed by the wonderful people at Saint Edmunds. At this juncture, I would prefer to contend with the traffic and parking challenges at Saint Edmunds than endure such treatment at Saint Judes. I'm awarding two stars for the priest's kindness and graciousness.
