On the 25th of December, 2018, the headline in the newspaper reads: "Sussex planners give the green light to Groome development" for a plot of land along New Road, with plans for 292 single-family units on a 134-acre parcel. How many more high-density houses, condos, and the like do we truly need in Lewes? Just take a look at what's unfolding along King's Highway and Gills Neck Road near the high school. It's evident that developers are pulling the strings in Sussex County, and in the process, they are tarnishing it. It's distressing and revolting. Our ecosystem and infrastructure are ill-equipped to handle this relentless spree of construction and pavement. Frankly speaking, Lewes seems poised to follow in the footsteps of Rehoboth, spiraling into a state of overdevelopment. Our charming little town will no longer be a peaceful sanctuary from the noise, traffic, and crowds that have swarmed over Rehoboth and the rest of eastern Sussex County. The Groome development is a disgraceful manifestation of the predicament that is ravaging our once-beautiful town and its environs. The leaders of Groome United Methodist Church, alongside the avaricious developers, are heading straight down a path to damnation, as are the politicians who seem to have cozy relationships with these developers.
Wayne Morris (5/13/25, 6:48 AM):
We should all feel blessed that the internet allows us to receive a message to contemplate or accept gracefully. Groome fulfills that need.
Edward Adams (5/12/25, 8:43 AM):
I reckon this church only cares about moolah.
Betty Roberts (5/10/25, 10:05 PM):
A splendid experience indeed—welcoming to all! Excellent growth in the music program.
